RESOURCES ON GENRES AND MODALITIES OF AESTHETIC EXPRESSION AND MASS VIOLENCE

This section offers reviews and links to foundational and contemporary resources on nine forms of aesthetic expression and their unique influences in public space, public memory and memorialization.  Considerations on scholarship, criticism and creative voice which expands disciplinary horizons to include the study of comparative aesthetics, art criticism and current artistic knowledge is introduced with these resources.  Some key questions that are considered here:  What is the relationship between artistic expression and the social aesthetics of collective trauma?  How is artistic expression influencing the aesthetics of collective / public memory, memorialization and the national and international debates over collective remembrance of traumatic events?
